QZ is 3 Months Old

Boy oh Boy…

Little Quinn is 3 months old! He is such a curious, observant and happy baby, and these past 3 months have been unlike anything I could have ever expected, dreamed of, hoped for, etc! To say that they have been hard is an understatement, but to say that they have been incredible is an even bigger one. We are so so lucky to have our little family and grow together, and I will look back on these 3 months with such love and happiness.

3 Months also equals back to work, which is going to be a big adjustment mentally for me! I know I am ready to get back into a routine (from implementing this in Quinn’s life, I have learned how much we as humans all crave routine), I am ready to start being with adults during the day, and I am ready to challenge myself professionally. But I am SO not ready to miss out on little moments with my Q Man. His smile and sounds and new developments light up my day, and I am already dreading the early morning/late night days where I will barely have a few hours or even less with him.

I feel like we are just getting into a groove where I know when he will be napping each day & he’s going to bed around the same time each night, but just when I feel confident, something new and different happens to keep me on my toes! This week I was supposed to start working again, but it was so cold in Chicago (Polar Vortex - ever heard of it?!) that I didn’t get to go in for my half days, so Monday the 4th will be a big day and I’m sure an overwhelming one.

We’ve hired a Nanny and had her start a few days a week so I could run errands/get to doctors’ appointments, etc, and we’re getting into a groove with her. Its definetly a challenge letting go of control and having someone else watch over your little one - I have to be clear to set expectations so that I know things are going the same as if I was there myself (not that I know what I’m doing but hey - I try)!

As far as Quinn’s big changes, he’s over 13 lbs now and 24 inches, he’s wearing 3+ months clothes, and he’s eating about 6x a day. This is a HUGE change from the first couple weeks where we’d have 10-16 feeding sessions a day! I finally can go to a work out class and not have to be available to nurse within the hour. He smiles soooo much, especially right when I wake him up in the morning, which is the cutest thing EVER. He is also extremely talkative and yells, coos, squeaks, and just says anything he can get out - its hilarious. He loves to reach for toys in his play gym, and as of late is obsessed with putting his hand in his mouth. Its usually his right hand so I am thinking he’s right handed but who knows! He’s getting more tolerant of tummy time and can totally hold his head up if we prop him up like he’s sitting. He loves to watch Mom and Dad and looks all around any time he is awake. Still not very interested in Phoebe which is also funny! I can tell he wants to roll over and so far he’s been able to go from tummy to back, and back to side, but hasnt gone all the way from back to tummy yet so I think that will be soon. He still loves taking baths and is such a ham just looking around, smiling and trying to catch water from the shower head in his mouth as we rinse him off. We keep joking that he will be so good during his baptism since he has no problem in the bath, but we shall see if that holds true! I absolutely cannot wait to hear what his first word will be so I am repeating “mama”over and over again obviously. just kidding…

Overall, we are so so lucky and thankful to have a happy and healthy baby and these past 3 months have been extremely special. Here are a few of my favorite pictures as of late…
